The Tao of VanDAO
A February Forecast
As I’m drawn deeper into the web of Web3 I’m reminded of my formative years, letting my imagination go wild with a package of Fimo, or building sandcastles on a Wards Island beach, getting lost in the moment of creative expression. Now, I find myself back in the sandbox, reliving that nostalgic atmosphere and playing with a new set of toys that has me feeling like a kid again. I’m not alone, both young and old have found their way onto the bleeding edge and are co-creating a new digital renaissance to inspire generations to come.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hard-selling snake oil to the unwitting masses, I’m just trying to have some fun again. Honestly.
Fun in the February Sun
As we broaden our horizons in true VanDAO fashion, it’s time to launch into the projects and activities that are popping off this month, beginning with the continuation of a work in progress — The Rare Vandal Anthem.
Phase One of the Anthem is complete. The song, produced by Paul Crans, is recorded, mixed and mastered (by Banging Masters) and this month we launch Phase Two, a collaboration between another DAO — Hype DAO to run a Hype Battle and pick the piece of digital art that will be used as the cover of the official NEAR Audio NFT release.
The Hype Battle will go LIVE from Feb 7th until the 20th and is open to any and all to participate in. You can learn more here.
The VanHub Virtual Space
If all you do is stalk my Medium you’re probably still in the dark on all the happenings in the world of the Rare Vandal. Like this awesome collaboration that is in the works with NearHub for our own special space in the Near Metaverse we affectionately call the VanHub.

Things are chugging along with the VanHub as we hope to have it ready for a Feb 22nd Launch to coincide with a (yet to be announced) NFT project being assembled for the MetaBUILD Hackathon. Stay tuned, I can’t wait for you to see it!
Lest we forget about 3D Avatars! We’ll be kicking off a bounty for the creation of an Avatar for every member of the community to use when they come into the space. Los Vandalitos represent!
Continuing the evolution of the CHANverse through a call for creation it’s almost time to select the 10 NFTs to be purchased by the DAO.
On Feb 15th the community will go through all the entries and our collection will grow!
But that’s not all… We will be diving right into Challenge #2, where we will explore narrative in a collaboration with NEARxPublish.
From Anthem to EP
No reason dope beats should go to waste. At least that’s what the crew thought after closing the contest to find the beat for the Rare Vandal Anthem.
Together with BeatDAO & GraffBase we continue to accept submissions and add to the 12 beats in the folder, from which 5 will be selected and used to craft an EP featuring members of the VanDAO community!
It’s tentatively titled BAYOR (Buy At Your Own Risk) and scheduled for a late March 2022 release. What do you think of the name?
